The point of a blog is, to my mind, often a dubious thing. I began this thing as a way of encouraging myself to write more. That was the main aim. A promise to myself that I would not forget my craft, but continue to exercise it on the regs, maybe amuse far-awsy friends, maybe sort out some of my own small, daily confusions. As it happens, life too often gets in the way of promises one makes to oneself, promises turn into afterthoughts, and afterthoughts become forgotten blogs left to stare blankly into the indifferent void of the internet. An abandoned blog with no one to care for it, not even its own creator, speaks too loudly of the loneliness of our age, and I cannot stand to watch something I was once determined to make a happy (if poorly-planned out) reality continue to sink into that dark mire of shit on the internet that no one cares about. I am fishing you out of that mire, blog, and dusting you off and trying again. There will be a new tack, a new direction, new things to discuss. Summer is starting to edge toward the door, after all, and the numbered pages of our days have been flipping by a little too quickly and crazily lately. So, let's say the point of the re-commissioned blog is sense and positivity. I know this sounds general, but I do have a more specific direction in mind for The Jim-Jam, which will be made plain before long. But sense and positivity-- what other tools do we have left to us when things go cockamamie? And things will go cockamamie. Oh yes, they certainly will.
I'll be back soon with blueprints and new things to do. Until then, we look forward, and see only the best in new things.
